Woodend artist, John York, began painting seriously on his retirement as an engineer in 2003. He studied basic watercolour techniques with Helen Cottle and advanced watercolours with artists such as Greg Allen, David Taylor and Herman Pekel.
John now produces paintings in both watercolour and acrylic media. Initially he concentrated on landscapes, but has increasingly included seascapes, cityscapes and townscapes as subject matter. John prefers the impressionist style, but he has also produced and sold landscape and cityscape paintings in semi-abstract style.
